DR. DAN HERNANDEZ
Dr. Daniel Hernandez was born and raised in the Houston, Texas, area. However, San Antonio is very near and dear to his heart due to his ancestors being a part of the Canary Island settlers who came to originally settle San Antonio. Suffice to say, his ties to the great state of Texas run very deep. He attended Texas A&M University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in biology and received the honor of an Undergraduate Research Scholar Distinction. His research focusing on single-celled organisms and their functions led to a publication in the Journal of Cell Science. Dr. Hernandez still utilizes the problem-solving skills he developed in research to help treat his patients to the best of his abilities.
He knew he wanted to be a dentist when he saw a patient receive their set of complete dentures for the first time. This moment left a lasting impression on him, and to this day, he still has a passion for making well-fitting custom dentures and other prosthetics. Dr. Hernandez came to San Antonio to pursue his dream of becoming a dentist. He received his doctorate in dental surgery from the dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Hernandez proudly carries on his family’s tradition of dentistry. He is happy to say that every member of his family, beginning with his parents, are amazing dentists, including his mother (a pediatric dentist), father, sister, brother, and wife, Dr. Aguilar! Dr. Hernandez is here to serve his patients and the wonderful community of San Antonio.
DR. LAURA AGUILAR
Dr. Laura Aguilar was raised in Mexico. Her family was fortunate enough to immigrate to the United States, where she attended the historic Permian High School in Odessa, Texas. She later attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she received her bachelor’s in biochemistry with honors. Her passion to help others led her to continue her studies at the UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry, where she received her doctorate in dental surgery. During her dental school career, she led a study club about implantology and received many awards, including awards for prosthodontics and periodontology, and was inducted into the prestigious dental honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Dr. Aguilar was recently accepted into the advanced general dentistry program at the UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry for the year of 2023, where she will expand her knowledge on advanced procedures such as implants, advanced cosmetic procedures and IV sedation.
Dr. Aguilar’s passion to become a dentist started when she first learned her father was born with a dental condition called cleft palate and lip. She experienced firsthand the struggles her father had been through and how this condition affected his social life and emotional state. She decided that she would like to help others like her dad in order to bring laughter and happiness into their lives. In the spring of 2021, she was very glad to give her dad a removable partial denture that he could use to have better oral function and to smile. Dr. Aguilar is excited to one day have the opportunity to meet you and be able to help with any dental issues you might be experiencing.
Drs. Aguilar and Hernandez met while in dental school and were in the same clinical group of 15 students all four years! It was not until later in their schooling that they went on their first date, and the rest is history! Together, Drs. Aguilar and Hernandez proudly run a truly family-owned and -operated dental practice that focuses on comprehensive care for people of all ages. In their free time, they enjoy cooking together, watching movies and exploring San Antonio.
